Who We Are

The Inter-Cultural Organizations' Network for Solidarity and Peace

ICON-SP, Inc. is a church-endorsed, Tri-People development organization based in Kidapawan City, Cotabato Province, Mindanao. We serve Indigenous Peoples — including Menuvu, Ilianen, and Teduray communities — alongside Moro Muslim and Christian settler communities, operating under the ecclesiastical endorsement of the Diocese of Kidapawan.

Our name carries our method: inter-cultural because peace cannot be built by one people alone, and network because no single organization can carry Mindanao's healing without partners.

Intensified Environmental Protection & Community Development for Inclusive and Sustainable Peace (IEPCDISP)

Expanded Peace Building Program (EPB)

The Expanded Peace Building Program strengthens peace, environmental stewardship, sustainable livelihoods, and community governance. By integrating conflict transformation with climate resilience and economic empowerment, EPB enables communities to become active builders of lasting peace.

A.1 · Peace in Diversity Development

Growing local peace champions

Peace begins with empowered communities. Peace Facilitators (PFs) are trained as mediators and community leaders, supporting barangay conflict resolution mechanisms such as the Lupon Tagapamayapa while promoting intercultural understanding among Indigenous Peoples, Moro, and Christian communities.

A.2 · Environmental and Cultural Integrity Development

This component strengthens environmental conservation while protecting indigenous knowledge, traditions, and cultural identity — equipping communities to respond to climate change through environmental education, disaster risk reduction, watershed conservation, mental health and psychosocial support, and community-based environmental networks.

Inclusive economic opportunity

This component promotes climate-smart agriculture, community enterprises, sustainable livelihoods, and value chain development that increase household incomes while protecting natural resources — giving vulnerable families pathways toward long-term economic security.

A.4 · Sustainable Conflict Resolution Structures & Peace Advocacy Network Development

Institutions that outlast a single project

Building on the People's Peace Network (PPN), this component strengthens local peace infrastructures through policy advocacy and institutional development. The new People's Peace Network Center (PPNC) and Legal Resource Peace Center expand access to justice, human rights protection, legal assistance, and policy research.

Peace & Protection

The Peace Facilitators Network trained 434 mediators — including 140 youth — to strengthen community conflict resolution, while 783 internally displaced families were linked to social protection services. A new Legal Resource Center under the People's Peace Network Center engaged 120 tribal leaders to strengthen traditional dispute resolution and advance women's rights and child protection.

Environment & Climate

The Save Nuangan River Project mobilized 212 local leaders across Kidapawan City and trained 203 youth in climate action. 86 Nature Guards have been empowered for community environmental protection and are awaiting formal deputation to DENR and PAMB.

Livelihood & Food Security

336 farmers were engaged in organic agriculture, while 12 women's organizations received support in food processing and herbal production — boosting both household income and food security.

Education & Culture

Six Schools for Living Tradition now engage Cultural Masters teaching beadwork, music, dance, storytelling, and literacy — with training, materials, and coaching to turn traditional crafts into income. The Educational Support Program assisted 203 ICON-SP Scholars, mostly women and Indigenous learners, with financial aid and values formation in peace, leadership, and mental health.

Women's Empowerment

A dedicated project supported 366 women across North Cotabato: strengthening 10 women's groups and their leadership and participation; improving income through sewing, food processing, and retailing; and expanding advocacy and partnerships for environmental protection and sustainability.

Humanitarian Resettlement

Housing settlement was facilitated for 92 IDPs in San Vicente, Makilala with Caritas Philippines, including a tribal hall, livelihood support, and a water system. Resettlement was also secured for 34 evicted families in Sitio Kau-sayan, Ganatan, Arakan, and 24 families in Sitio Kalay-an, New Abra, Matalam, with livelihood support underway.

Ancestral Domain Land Rights

A parcellary survey was completed for 187 members of the 4Bs Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) in Batasan, Makilala, with documentation support provided for approval at the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) office.

Following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Manay, Davao Oriental, ICON-SP supported post-disaster housing and livelihood recovery for affected families — part of a broader disaster risk reduction approach aligned with Sphere Standards to keep communities prepared before, during, and after disaster strikes.
